Manon Pouget | Class of 2023
Manon Pouget graduated in the Class of 2023 and has been busy kicking goals ever since. She’s traveled the world surfing, sponsored by international surf brand Vans, and also studying Marketing and Design at university.
What have you done since school that you weren’t expecting to do?
“I had two paths that were very different but I see them as parallel: surfing professionally and studying at uni in marketing and design. I want to curate brands, work with design, surf, and keep having fun! I surprised myself by how true I got to stay to my own values.”
What school memory makes you laugh every time you think of it?
“Every single school camp ever! The camps are the bonds that we make. Every time we catch up there’s another crazy camp story!”
Have you remembered something like a skill or a topic that since you have left school has popped up that you weren’t expecting would be important?
“I would say a couple of things, but it wasn’t stuff I learned in a subject. One was the work ethic that required me to do the stuff I wanted to do. I think I got that towards the end of my HSC year. The second was the importance of creativity. The fact that CBRSS always held and nurtured my love of design meant that it always felt valued.”
“Lastly, although it might not seem like it, when you see other kids that went to a Steiner school, you have an immediate sense of community and you just seem to know each other. I think that at CBRSS I got to harness my authenticity. I realised when I left that the only constraints were the ones I placed on myself!”
Teacher memory of Manon: “She is a force of nature at school and as a student was always so positive. The world needs more of Manon’s positive energy and joy. I am so happy to see Manon chasing her dreams. Watch out world!” Paddy, Guardian.
