CBRSS alumni Talulah Blay, Class of 2023, was one of 19 students across NSW to be honoured at the Sydney Writers Festival in May for her outstanding English Extension 2 major work.
We Are Women of Stories is now published in the Young Writers Showcase 2023 anthology, celebrating the best in state. Talulah’s poetry is a personal exploration of her heritage, catalysed by reading the memoir Sister Sister, which tells of her great grandmother and great aunt’s fleeing from Poland and surviving the Holocaust.
After also visiting the Jewish Museum as part of the HSC Sydney Trip that Class 12 does annually, Talulah was moved to pay homage to the courage and fortitude of the women in her family via powerful poems that form an intergenerational conversation.
