Any applications received after Friday the 26th of March 2021 for a child eligible for that age group will be added to the waiting list for Class 1 in 2023 or for the relevant future classes depending on when/if an opportunity arises.
Thank you for your interest in enrolment at Cape Byron Rudolf Steiner School.
We are a single stream school (1 class per year level) with a typical class size of 28.
Currently all of our classes are full and in most cases we have extended waiting lists. As our waiting lists are growing rapidly, we are unable to guarantee placement within a specified timeframe. Many factors can impact the timing for an offer of Enrolment and, whilst it is possible to receive an earlier offer of a place, it is also possible that you may have a long wait before an opportunity may arise. If you would like further, specific information about this, please contact our Enrolments Officer.
It is rare that we would have a place for all children in a family to start at our school at the same time, for this reason if one of your children gets a place their siblings will get a higher priority for placement.
When we look for new students we are seeking families and students who will integrate well into the existing class and school community and who we believe will thrive within our system but also have a positive impact on the other members of our school. We will consider a range of criteria, including but not limited to, the student’s relationship to the School community (e.g siblings of existing students, children of staff), the student’s previous Steiner Education, the Family’s support for the Steiner approach to education, gender and temperament balance within the class, the capacity to pay School fees and the date of application. For families of currently enrolled siblings, how you support the School through that sibling/s enrolment will also be considered.
We recommend that you explore what a Steiner Education offers and review our school Fees before deciding whether to add your children to our waiting list. We also recommend that you read any relevant handbooks for Kindergarten, Primary School and High School (available for Download below).
We do not have a playgroup, however, we do recommend The Rainbow Garden playgroup which is located in Bangalow, for more information please Email Maxine Green or phone 0411 220 247.
We do not have a pre-school however we can recommend Periwinkle pre-school for Rudolf Steiner early childhood education which is located in Byron Bay. More information can be found on their website www.periwinkle.nsw.edu.au
Children start Kindergarten in the year they turn 6. The Kinder enrolment process unfolds typically in term 2 of the year before the child is eligible to attend. It is important to join the waiting list as early possible to maximise your chances. Date of application is significant so the earlier the better. There are always many more people trying for places than we have to offer so being on the waiting list will not guarantee success at that time, if your child does not gain entry for Kindergarten they are welcome to remain on our waiting list.
Primary and High School
After Kindergarten is full we are only waiting for students to leave in order to have a place to offer, it is impossible for us to predict when or if this will happen. We recommend that you remain flexible in your timing and accept the offer of an interview when it is given as it may be a long wait before another opportunity presents itself. If you decline an offer for an interview your child may remain on the waiting list but their position on the list will change.
