What is love?
What is infatuation?
And what do we do when filled with love or hate?
In the Love and Other Catastrophes Main Lesson, Class 8 students explored what happens to us as humans when a revolution is going on inside us, or in the world around us. How do we make sense of the grand emotions of love and hate, experience loyalty and betrayal, and what are the ramifications of manipulation and base impulse?
The class created an exquisite performance of Romeo and Juliet, which they performed for their families and other classes. With energy and focus, care and purpose, the students navigated powerful human experiences in Romeo and Juliet and delivered a captivating performance that chartered the joys and frivolity, and the pain and grief of this magnificent play.
As their sense of self expands, Performance Main Lessons are wonderful opportunities for students to explore new ways of understanding self and ways being in the world – sharing this Main Lesson with my Guardian Class has been a joyous and powerful experience.
