PROTECTING TEENS FROM DRUG & ALCOHOL ABUSE
Adolescent alcohol & drug use triggers fear in many parents. Extensive research has shown that the strongest factor in protecting teens from problematic alcohol & drug use, and developing into resilient adults is a close, supportive relationship with a parent or caregiver.
This parenting course is designed to support parents/ carers to understand and respond proactively to the challenges of adolescent alcohol & drug experimentation and abuse, and to help strengthen the parent/ teenager relationship. It will be run over 6 weeks, with 6 x 2 hrs sessions.
Topics covered: Adolescent development; how relationships are protective; challenges parents and teens face; understanding teen substance use and strategies to protect and positively influence your teen.
WHEN: 6 Fridays from 11th May to 15th June 2018 (these are not separate seminars)
