It was wonderful to see so many smiling faces returning to school last week after the break (teachers and students). The first and most obvious thing to notice on return to school was just how far our wonderful new building has progressed. The builders are doing an amazing job and we expect to be using the new building next term. It isn’t easy having a building site in the middle of our school, however the builders have done their best to minimise disruption and I am very grateful to our whole school community for the way you have adapted and worked with the changes and limitations such a project brings.
We have quite a busy term coming up with several school camps and excursion (Year 7 are away at the moment), our AGM, the High School Electives Showcase and the Winter Festival … along with all of the wonderful teaching and learning which occurs every school day. Next week we are holding a parent conversation evening. Parents will already have received an invitation to this by email and further details can be found later in this bulletin. I would like to encourage parents to come along and have a conversation with the Management Team about our wonderful school and how we can work together to get the best possible outcomes for our students. We are looking forward to hearing your ideas.
One way we can support the strengthening of our school community is through our offering of parent education opportunities. We have a new study group beginning next week, working through the wonderful “Kingdom of Childhood” lectures. Our Tuesday evening study group is also continuing to meet each week. Whilst the ‘Kingdom of Childhood’ study group is a great introductory group, the Tuesday night group work quite deeply with some of the more in-depth (and sometimes challenging) Steiner lectures. If you would like further information about either of the study groups, please contact Yvette in the office.
This term we will also be offering some special events with Melanie Deefholts for parents of Primary aged students, looking at how parents can best understand and support their children through the different phases of development. Melanie is an experienced parent educator and will lead these interesting, engaging and informative evenings. Further information will be sent out to parents closer to the dates.
Finally, our AGM will be held on Monday 21st May at 5.30 pm in the Library at school. As the number of nominations exceed the vacancies on the Board, there will be an election and further information about this process will be sent out to members of the Company in the next few days.
