From the Principal

Hello everyone,

What a wonderful week we have had this week. There have been many activities happening across the school and we have also received some very exiting news.

I am really pleased to let you know that we have been notified that we have received Capital Grants funding from the Commonwealth government so that we can build a new Science and Mathematics Innovation Centre in the High School. The building will have two Science labs as well as some flexible teaching and learning spaces in the upper level. Whilst there are still a lot of design and approval processes to step through, we hope that building will begin in the first half of next year. I will keep you regularly updated on progress in relation to this exciting project.

Our Kindergarten parents met this week and were introduced to their new Class One Teacher for 2017. We are really excited that Anna Weatherstone will be taking up this position. Anna is a young Steiner Teacher who has been working in our school both as a relief teacher and also as an classroom assistant for some time now and is ready to step up into the important role of Class Teacher.

In the Primary School there have been a range of camps, sleepovers and plays happening over the last couple of weeks, with more to come in the remaining weeks of the term.

In the High School, we have had some wonderful news from our 2016 HSC students, please see Katie’s HSC Update report for further details. Our Year 7 students enjoyed a terrific day out kayaking (with some very friendly dolphins joining them for a while) as a part of their Wish, Wonder and Surprise Main Lesson whilst our Year 9 students have had a wonderful week out sailing and kayaking at Noosa Heads.

With all this activity and enjoyment of the sunshine and longer days, we are definitely moving towards the time of the year where we are drawn towards the experience of the external light (we can feel a bit ‘out of ourselves’ during these warmer months). Tanja Nelson (Chair of the P&F) has kindly provided us with an article which reflects on how we experience and celebrate the light as we move towards Advent. The article is printed later in this Bulletin for your information.

Peace
Nerrida
